Medusa Spirit Badge

Medusa Spirit Badge

The Medusa brings more trouble than one monster should reasonably be allowed to carry. Serpent bites, a petrifying gaze, piercing arrows, and the Song of the Medusa have all been reported by Monster Rangers. Central Command's recommendation remains beautifully simple: avoid the Medusa.

Ranger Fact: When the monster has snakes, arrows, songs, and a gaze that turns people to stone, 'let's see what happens' is not an approved plan.

Point Value: Worth 25 Glory Points toward your Monster Rangers badge collection.

HOW TO EARN THIS BADGE

Choose one:

  • Learn the basic Medusa story from Greek mythology and compare two different traditional or artistic versions.
  • Create a safe mirror-based observation challenge where participants must navigate or identify objects without looking directly at the target.
  • Make a snake-hair headdress, paper crown, or mask inspired by Medusa without using live snakes, which should not need saying.

Jr. Monster Rangers

Choose one:

  • With a grown-up, read an age-appropriate version of the Medusa myth.
  • Make a paper Medusa face with at least six snake curls for hair.
  • Play a mirror-look game where you identify an object by reflection instead of looking straight at it.

Secret Power (for the Monster Rangers RPG)

“Don't Meet Her Eyes” — Once per session, when facing a gaze-based threat, gain a small advantage by using reflection, peripheral vision, or another indirect method.
